Bullets&Bubblegum, a trio from Portland, Oregon, are intent on infesting the Northwest with their brand of indie rock as what they term 'Post-Peak' music (an optimistic reference to life, invention and creativity in a post peak oil production world). One fan has dubbed the Bullets&Bubblegum sound as 'mandatory sonic provisions', while another declares it to be 'punk rock for the new millennium'.

Bullets&Bubblegum deliver an unusual musical montage colored with accents of underground pop and post-punk psychedelia. Citing such varied influences as Wire, New Order, The Fall, Bauhaus, PJ Harvey, Interpol, Brian Eno, Cocteau Twins, Meat Puppets and Hüsker Dü, they seek to perpetuate the themes of genuine experimental optimism and melodramatic individualism to construct intemperate and unremitting, sonorous bliss.

Their initial four song demo received the prestigious honor of being highlighted in the number one slot in the top ten of the Seattle Rocket's 1999 Demo-Listen Derby, and, the 2000 New Vibe Contest placed Bullets&Bubblegum among its top ten picks out of 706 bands.

Bullets&Bubblegum have been a Portland-based (OR) band since July of 2002, having started the project (as a duo between Victor Sabula and Kimberly Reed) in Eugene (OR) in 1999. The duo returned to Oregon following a two year hiatus (2000-2002) in Cleveland (OH), during which time Victor Sabula completed a final recording project with post-punk, Cleveland-based cohorts Tamerlane. Bullets&Bubblegum plan to make Portland (OR) their base of operation for years to come, now adding to the arsenal of creative personnel for diversification and live performance.

Let's take a look at the current Bullets&Bubblegum lineup...

VIC: musical and lyrical composer, producer, guitars, drum machine sequencing, bass, keyboards, drums, vocals, engineering, graphic design/production, flatulence. Born and raised in a rural suburb of Cleveland, OH, Vic first found delight (at the age of 7) in stacking his father's plethora of paint cans into Neil Peart style kit arrangements to rock along with 70's classics. An actual drum kit came shortly thereafter, and, eventually a guitar at the age of 13. He has performed in Cleveland post-punk bands Tamerlane, Edifice Wrecks and The Salad Years. Vic also currently plays bass in Portland modern rock quartet, Oyster Lucy. He has even had the honor to perform in an opening role for one of his dearest heroes: British underground folk legend Roy Harper. He first connected with B&B crooner Kim at a coffee house open mic night in 1997. They co-wrote their first song (Blind Persuasion) shortly thereafter, dubbed the project Bullets&Bubblegum and the rest is history. Vic maintains an affinity for inordinate guitar tunings and thumping drum beats. He strives to 'transcend the superfluous burdens of bipedalism'.
KIM: musical and lyrical composer, vocals, guitars, keyboards. Born and raised in Salem, OH, having developed a musical career that oddly enough began in the town of Pittsburgh, PA, with cohort K-Love, forming the indisputable band Dandee, whose first album ('As The Name Implies') never got off the ground due to minor disputes and much needed therapy. From there, Kim's career flowered as she moved to Columbus, OH, and under the name Gypsy Star, dedicated three years to assaulting various local underground venues with her unique folk/alternative repertoire. In 1997, she moved to Cleveland, OH, to continue her creative pursuits; the results being her first full length solo release and work with Cleveland's 'street' population that led her to organize improv sessions and poetry readings at drop-in shelters and street corners on the town's near west side. She first connected with B&B guitar god Vic at a coffee house open mic night in 1997. They co-wrote their first song (Blind Persuasion) shortly thereafter, dubbed the project Bullets&Bubblegum and the rest is history. Likes beat-style lyrical postulation and dark chocolate.
AMY: drums, percussion, guitar, accordion. Born in Billings, MT, having resided immediately thereafter in four CA cities, prior to settling in Portland, OR, for good, at the age of 7. She started with guitar and accordian lessons around age 6, but when she saw her uncle's sparkly blue drumset - it was all over. Angels sang and she attacked the kit immediately with some pencils in the absence of any drumsticks. She began drum lessons thereafter at age 10. Also, around that time, she decided that she wanted to be Cher when she grew up. Amy has been a member of numerous local bands: NickelTwin, Cunning Little Vixen, Siren X, Weird Harold, Mossy Rock, Sicko (for about 5 minutes while she was in college) and The Whirling Dervishes. Amy attends and supports the Portland Rock 'N' Roll Camp For Girls, having led a class at the 2003 event. In a perfect world, David Bowie would have played the role of Bosley on Charlie's Angels, and, the pug would be our national emblem.
